LEGISLATIVE UPDATE FOR OCTOBER 12, 2021 IS POSTED FOR YOUR REVIEW!!!!!!

Attention all Sons,

Mission: Veterans Mobility is ready to implement distribution of scooters.

AMVETS Family members and friends,

Veterans Day is special for Sons of AMVETS – Department of Ohio. For over 20 years, Ohio Sons have hosted a 4 day/3 night excursion to Washington DC making it possible for veterans, AMVETS family members, and friends to participate in services at Arlington National Cemetery.

Dear AMVETS family and friends,

In his Proclamation in 1957 President Eisenhower called upon the citizenry to “observe Veterans Day, in tribute to those who have thus added strength to the Nation and in renewed dedication to their work, building peace with honor among all nations.”

Fellow Sons and AMVETS family members,

It is with great sadness that I inform you that PNC Harold Collins father In-Law, James Montgomery Sr., passed away last weekend. A Vietnam veteran, James was also an AMVETS lifetime member plus a staunch supporter and friend of Sons of AMVETS in Kentucky and across the nation.

Good morning AMVETS (& AMVETS FAMILY) members,

Fellow Sons, AMVETS family, and friends,

It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of Department of KY PDC James A. Grizzle. Commander Jim served as the Department of KY Commander for 7 years. He also served as the Department Sons Coordinator.

Fellow Sons,

The following is the text of an email from Justin Brown regarding legislative and information updates provided by National AMVETS. These will be listed in pdf format to make it easy to copy and share with your local AMVETS family.

Greetings Fellow Sons,

Our Consitition and By-Laws for 2019-2020, with the approved revisions, are now posted. They are available in .doc or pdf format on the "FORMS" page or by clicking on the links listed below.

It is an honor to have been elected Sons of AMVETS National Commander at the 35th National Convention in Louisville, Kentucky. Together with the newly elected leadership team, I’m confident we will move this organization forward and accomplish great things.

HELP HEAL VETERANS CONTINUES AS COMMANDER’S PROJECT THROUGH 2021

Sons of AMVETS National Commander Richard Thibodeau will continue support Help Heal Veterans (HHV) through his Commander’s Project in 2020-2021.

Help Heal Veterans' mission is to support the healing and enrich the lives of veterans and military personnel. Healing arts and crafts provide a therapeutic experience for all veterans including those who are hospitalized, in shelters, in convalescent homes and those undergoing therapy for a wide range of physical and mental challenges. The kits, provided free of charge to the veteran, become a part of the patient's treatment plan, giving them a creative outlet along with tangible therapeutic and rehabilitation benefits.

Since inception, Help Heal Veterans has delivered nearly 31 million arts and crafts kits to veterans and veteran facilities nationwide, along with active duty military overseas.Kits range in categories including woodworking, leather, models, and a variety of needlecrafts, paint-by-numbers and many others.

You may visit www.healvets.org to learn more.

All are invited to join with Commander Richard to support our veterans and active duty members through this DIRECT to VET program. Donations may be sent to National Sons of AMVETS, 4647 Forbes Blvd, Lanham, MD 20706. Please make your checks payable to National SOA and mark the memo line HHV.

PROJECT REPORT

Greetings to all Sons,

Through May 24, 2021, Squadrons and Departments have recorded over $3,787,362 in activity for 2020-2021. Considering lock downs, shutdowns, restricted access, and social distancing, the membership has remained active when conditions permit. GREAT JOB!!!!! On behalf of the veterans we serve, THANK YOU!!!

Your commitment to our mission, "SONS SERVING VETERANS", is noteworthy. Our proactive DIRECT to VET approach has had a positive impact on those we have pledged to serve. As an organization it is important that our programs be recorded. We need to let others know what we do. To that end, all are encouraged to register at www.sonsofamvets.org so you may submit your project reports.

Please contact me directly at mickandlynda@verizon.net if you need assistance submitting reports or if you have difficulties with registration. If preferred, you can call or text me at 813-445-0253.

Take Credit for your volunteerism and report your activity!

REMEMBER THE DEADLINE FOR PROJECT REPORTS IS JUNE 30TH.
